Porta-Botz "Team K" wins Home Tournament
On December 14, Portage Community Robotics held their annual "Region Rumble" Tournament. It was attended by over 50 teams from across Indiana, and Team K (pictured above) received Tournament Champion. The team is home to four of our leaders. Their team will be attending the State competition in February to compete for a spot at the Worlds Competition. Every year, teams from across the world build and program robots to complete a Challenge. To read more about the Portage teams and the challenge this year, click the button below!.

Ava: a video game about space-pirates and social situations
Last, you heard about 18 y/o Alyssa Carson, an aspiring astronaut. Now, let us introduce you to Vanessa Castañeda Gill, cofounder and CEO of Social Cipher, and winner of the Technology Category in the T-Mobile Changemaker Challenge. Vanessa was diagnosed with autism at 14 and now works on neuroscience research. Her organization, Social Cipher, makes video games to empower autistic youth and give neurodiverse players a safe space to practice social skills and self-advocacy. Ava is an RPG platformer about an autistic protagonist who ventures into a world of space pirates, explores a fantasy universe, and experiences human connection and emotion. Click the button below to learn more about Social Cipher and their mission and product.
    Follow her journey!
