We are She Can Tech!")
     She Can Tech is a student volunteer led technology program that works to increase the meaningful participation of women in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).

     Welcome to our first newsletter for the 2019/2020 school year!  We hope that you find our updates insightful, interesting, and inspiring.

Video Game Design Workshop  
The first workshop of the season concluded on November 14 with the creation and presentation of video games aimed at solving global issues like bullying and healthy lifestyles.  For pictures from the workshop, visit our Flickr!

Girl (Em)Powered Summit  
On October 19, She Can Tech and Portage Community Robotics co-hosted the first ever Greater Northwest Indiana Girl (Em)powered Summit. Over 35 students and 15 speakers attended the event. Students and speakers (STEM professionals) interacted through hands-on ice-breaker activities, a discussion panel, lunch, and Round Robin sessions. Photos from the event are available on Flickr.

T-Mobile Changemaker Challenge
Our workshops are free thanks to generous sponsors and organizations like Google, Northrop Grumman, Bank of new York Mellon, DoD STEM, and the National Center for Women & Information Technology. Spacewalkers 
NASA Astronauts Christina Koch and Jessica Meir completed the first all-female spacewalk at the International Space Station on October 18. Their mission to replace a faulty battery on the station's solar panels was successful. Initially, the electrical engineer and biologist were scheduled for a spacewalk in March, but a space-suit sizing issue hindered their spacewalk. Their spacewalk is a historical milestone inspiring more girls to pursue an interest in STEM. Koch and Meir are at the ISS right now.
